Beyond The Veil of Catholic theology with new
Brian Flynn album
Beyond the Veil is Catholic
singer/songwriter, Brian Flynn’s, newest
solo album. This latest recording features
authentic Catholic Music that teaches and
inspires its listeners. It includes eleven
original tracks that Brian wrote with the hope
of bringing a deeper understanding of Catholic
Theology to the modern music scene.
"Beyond the Veil" features worship songs such as
“Lift High the Cross” and the title track
“Beyond the Veil”. It also includes anointed
Eucharistic songs like “Panis Vere” and “I
Believe”. In this special year designated to the
priesthood, “You Are a Priest Forever” is an
inspiring song dedicated to building up the
priesthood and encouraging seminarians. The
album also includes a dynamic pro-life song,
entitled “American Anthem for Life”, which
weaves patriotic themes with our Judeo-Christian
roots on which this country was founded.

Barry
Russo's Back to Life: Doing what he truly loves
Back to Life, a six-song EP released in
September, 2009, is Barry Russo's third
solo project. The style of the music on this
latest endeavor continues his 80s-influenced
melodic pop-rock tendencies, though some of the
tracks appear to contain a bit more of a rock
edge to the vocals and/or production than
Russo's previous work.
On earlier releases, Russo established himself
as an artist who blends optimistic,
inspirational messages with an equally
optimistic, upbeat musical style. As a Catholic
artist, Russo has often walked the fine line
between what could be industry-classified as
Christian music or mainstream secular pop music.
Even his mainstream songs have often been
saturated with underlying spiritual messages. On
Back to Life, Russo continues this artistic
direction, though he covers new ground by
venturing into social observations about the
world we live in, particularly on the powerful,
energetic opening track, "Love Is a Beautiful
Thing," (on which some listeners detect hints of
a U2 influence) and the closer, "Home." The
lyrical standpoint of those two tracks is a
clear reiteration of the Church's call for
social justice and compassion for all.

Tess‘ debut solo

The Only One We Need marks a significant
moment in modern music history. This is not only
one of the newest releases in the genre of
Catholic Christian Rock, but it also features
famous musicians known for their work with
mainstream secular classic rock legends. John

Dulcimers,
mandolins and Americana music in new CD by Russ
Rentler
Tiber-hopper Russ Rentler is a blogger
and doctor, but perhaps known best for his
rootsy American music, hammered out with
dulcimers, mandolins, and other such. Russ’s new
disk,
Way to Emmaus, is out and it echoes the
Fathers often. “Untier of Knots” draws from
Irenaeus’s image of Mary loosening the knot of
Eve’s disobedience. “Late Have I Loved You” is,
of course, straight out of Augustine (but
personal to Russ as well). Russ’s rendition of
“Old Time Religion” brings a smile as he invokes
a litany of the Fathers. There are also striking
arrangements of two of my old favorite hymns,
“Holy God, We Praise Thy Name” and “Sing of
Mary” — but like you’ve never heard them before.
Much more, too.

Not
surprisingly, Matt Maher does it again with new
album "Alive Again"
Didn't think
Matt Maher could top his breakout
release "Empty and Beautiful"? Think again. The
widely anticipated
Alive Again does just that-encapsulating
the trademark charisma and penetrating spirit of
his live events. According to Matt, the album
has a certain "rawness" that speaks to who he is
and how he communicates as a worship leader,
singer and songwriter. The title track
re-creates the moment God reached in and grabbed
his heart for the very first time. Refreshing
praise and worship songs "No Greater Love,"
"Sing Over Your Children" and "Christ Has Risen"
beam with Matt's signature joyful lyrics.
"Garden" puts a compassionate close to a record
you'll immediately want to enjoy with another
listen. Every single one of the 12 songs on
Alive Again was co-written. SESAC's 2008
Christian songwriter of the year Jason Ingram,
Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, up-and-coming
writer/vocalist Audrey Assad, Mark Byrd and Mia
Fields all lent their creative talents to a
project Matt describes as a "communal
experience." Produced by Christopher Stevens
(Delirious?, tobyMac) and Paul Moak (Matt
Kearny, CompassionArt), the album is both
immediate and soulful. Matt's addictive
organic-pop sound melded with vulnerable and
engaging lyrics make "Alive Again" a soundtrack
for believers in both personal times of prayer
as well as communal Sunday worship.

Danielle Rose CD her final recording before
entering religious life
Before leaving her
career as a musical missionary and following
God’s call to enter religious life in a
Franciscan Charismatic Religious community, The
Disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, Danielle
Rose (now Sister Rose Thérèse, DLJC) had a
desire to record one last CD to offer to those
discerning their own vocation in the Church.
Danielle’s insight, prayerful discernment, and
joy are reflected clearly in this project. Her
music has an intimate quality that calls each
person to the heart of God—to rest in the joy
and peace that is present in that full
awareness.
With a unique blend of southern gospel and
bluegrass styles, produced by Jeff Thomas of
Nashville, the songs feature Danielle’s pure
delicate voice, often likened to Alison Krause.
Stand out songs include: ‘Pursue Me,’ ‘Abraham’s
Offering’, and ‘Gates of Heaven,’ an emotionally
touching ballad, written by her father Dr.
Daniel Skorich and sung with her. In the lyrics
he says good bye to his dearly beloved daughter
as she leaves home to begin her new life path.

Sarah
Hart taps into wisdom of the saints for new
album
Six years ago,
Sarah Hart stumbled across the Anima
Christi in an old prayer book her mother used as
a child. Awed by the beauty of this ancient
prayer, she set it to music (“I truly couldn’t
help myself”), then began searching for more.
SaintSong is a contemporary montage
featuring wisdom from saints throughout the
ages. The collection presents 11 brand new
compositions in Sarah’s inimitable folk-pop
style. Texts include poems, prayers and other
writings by some of the Church’s most revered
doctors and theologians. St. Augustine figures
prominently, as do women mystics like Catherine
of Siena, Hildegard of Bingen and Mechthild of
Magdeburg. CD booklet contains devotional and
catechetical material. A project six years in
the making, SaintSong puts ear-pleasing,
contemporary clothes on some of the Church’s
most beloved texts from the past two millennia.
