Critical Mass
was founded by David Wang in 1996. The first album, Faith Looks
Up, won awards for Best Modern Rock/Alternative Album from the
United Catholic Music and Video Association and led the band to
producer Andrew Horrocks, who helped bring Critical Mass' music to
a new level of professionalism and polish on their sophomore
album, Completely, in 2000. This album garnered Best Rock Album
from the Canadian Gospel Music Association and caught the
attention of the organizers of World Youth Day 2002.
The members were very
honoured to have been chosen to provide the musical accompaniment for the Papal
Welcoming Ceremony and the Papal Vigil, which drew crowds of nearly 380,000 and
600,000 respectively. Numerous personnel occured after this historic event and
David Wang returned to the studio in 2003 to create a project which continues
the musical journey for the first two studio albums. A new band has been formed
and looks forward to more extensive touring in the future.
